Unconscious patterns

Project that groups together different works on paper that play with the language of sewing patterns, 2020. Developed during my residency at the former textile factory Roca Umbert, Barcelona.

Childhood Patterns

Are we destined to repeat the patterns established in our childhood? If we look carefully can we recognise those patterns?

An ongoing series of drawings made by tracing lines from children’s clothing patterns. With this project I intend to translate the functional language of patterns into a purely visual language, where the patterns make no sense as such, becoming simple lines that relate to each other and where each drawing is the result of a different combination of repeated lines of the same pattern. Looking at the drawings together we look for the relationship between them, trying to connect the lines and find a recognisable pattern.
